My CVS Shopping Trip 6-13-11

I went to CVS this morning after the kids got up. I find if I don't get there early in the week, they are out of some of the stuff I want and I have to get rain checks. I started out with $5.00 ECB's. I did three transactions this week. Here's what I bought:

Transaction #1
1 Zyrtec 5 ct. (reg price $6.99, on sale for $5.99 - buy 1, get $5.99 ECB's)
1 Bayer Advanced Aspirin (reg. price $4.29, on sale for $3.00 - buy 1, get $1.00 ECB)

Total before sale prices applied - $11.28

Total after sale prices - $8.99

I used the following coupons:

(1) $2.00 off any Zyrtec product, exc. trial size (found here) (NOTE - The 5 ct. is not considered trial size)
(1) $2.00 off Bayer Advanced Aspirin (Smart Source insert, 6/12)
$5.00 ECB's from last week (took $4.99 off)

Total after sale prices and coupons - $0.00 + tax

I earned $7.99 ECB's from this transaction ($5.99 and $1.00, plus $1.00 for my Green Bag Tag)

Transaction #2
1 Schick Hydro 5 Razor (reg. price $9.99, on sale for $8.00 - buy 1, get $4.00 ECB's)
1 Motrin PM (reg. price $5.99, on sale for $4.00 - buy 1, get $3.00 ECB's)

Total before sale prices applied - $15.98

Total after sale prices - $12.00

I used the following coupons:

(1) $4.00 and Schick Hydro Razor (Smart Source insert, 6/12)
(1) $1.00 off Motrin PM (found here)
$6.99 ECB's from my first transaction

Total after sale prices and coupons - $0.01 + tax

I earned $7.00 ECB's from this transaction ($4.00 and $3.00)

Transaction #3
1 Motrin PM (reg. price $5.99, on sale for $4.00 - buy 1, get $3.00 ECB's)

Total before sale prices applied - $5.99

Total after sale prices - $4.00

I used the following coupons:

(1) 1.00 off Motrin PM (found here)
$3.00 ECB's from my second transaction

Total after sale prices and coupons - $0.00 + tax

I earned $3.00 ECB's from this transaction, leaving me $8.00 ECB's for my next purchase.

Total retail value of all items purchased - $33.25
My total cost OOP (out of pocket) - $0.01 + tax

This week is a great example of why I often do multiple transactions to have the lowest OOP expense. If I had done only one transaction, I would have spent $9.99 + tax OOP and had $13.99 ECB's left. Instead, I spent $0.01 + tax and have $8.00 ECB's left. More ECB's, yes, but also more money spent.
