My Rite Aid Shopping Trip 7-31-11

After I went to CVS, I headed over to Rite Aid to score a few things there. I had some +UP Rewards that were going to expire at the end of this week, so I needed to use them. I started with $9.50 in +UP Rewards. I did two transactions. Here's what I bought:

Transaction #1

1 3-pack Rogaine (reg. price $49.99, on sale for $39.99 - buy 1, get $10.00 +UP's)

Total before sale prices applied - $49.99

Total after sale prices - $39.99

I used the following coupons:

(1) $10.00 off any Rogaine (found here)
$9.50 +UP Rewards from a couple of weeks ago

Total after sales and coupons - $20.49 + tax

I received $10.00 +UP Rewards for this transaction.

Transaction #2

1 Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor (reg. price $10.99, on sale for $9.99 - buy 1, get $5.00 +UP's)
2 Bic Soleil Twilight Razors (reg. price $6.79 each, on sale for $4.99 each - buy 1, get $1.00 +UP's)
1 pack 24-count Playskool crayons (reg. price $1.69, on sale for $0.29)

Total before sale prices applied - $26.26

Total after sale prices - $20.26

I used the following coupons:

(1) $4.00 off any Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor (P&G Insert, 6/5)
(2) $3.00 off Bic Soleil Razors (Smart Source Insert, 7/10)
$10.00 +UP Rewards from transaction #1

Total after sales and coupons - $0.26 + tax

I earned $7.00 +UP Rewards for this transaction.

Today's Rite Aid trip is a great example of how I don't always get things for free. The Rogaine is something that will never be free, but my husband uses it daily. It costs $50.00 at Wal-Mart, but today, combining sales, coupons and +UP's, I was able to get it for $20.00. Not free or even cheap, but much better than $50.00 for something my husband uses!

I decided not to use any of my +UP Rewards because I like to use those on things that will generate more +UP's.

My Rite Aid Shopping Trip 7-11-11

After we left CVS this morning, we went to Rite Aid. I went to a different Rite Aid than I normally do, just because it was closer to the park we walk and play at. I won't do that again! I am so familiar with "my" Rite Aid and I couldn't find anything in this one. I managed to get almost everything I wanted, but it took some doing! I started with $14.00 in +UP Rewards from last week - here's what I bought today:

(2) Old Spice Red Zone Deodorants (reg. price $4.49 each, on sale for $3.50 each - buy 2, get $2.00 +UP)
(2) Old Spice Body Washes (reg. price $4.99 each)
1 Reece Big Cup (reg. price $0.99)
1 small apple spice candle ($0.49)

Total before sale prices applied - $20.44

Total after sale prices - $18.46

I used the following coupons:

(1) $3.00 off any $15.00 purchase (from a store survey on last week's receipt)
(1) $1.00 off any two Old Spice products (P&G insert, 6/5)
(2) Buy one Old Spice deodorant, get an Old Spice Body Wash Free (P&G insert, 6/5)
$4.00 in +UP's from last week

Total after sale prices and coupons - $.48 + tax

I also earned $2.00 +UP's for this transaction, leaving me $12.00 +UP's to use toward a future purchase.

NOTE: I purchased the candy and the candle as filler items because the smallest +UP I had was $4.00 and my sub-total without those items would have only been $3.00 - Rite Aid will not reduce the value of the coupon like CVS will.

Also, for those of you who have made it this far and are curious, I did go yard selling on Saturday morning! I spent $15.00 on tons of kids clothes for my son, my daughter and my nephew. My best score was a brand new pair of New Balance tennis shoes for my nephew for only $2.00! These were brand new in the box with a price tag of $39.99 on them! Score!! We spent the rest of the day cleaning out my Dad's garage (his Father's Day present) and I forgot to take a picture of my loot - thus the reason I didn't do a whole blog post about it!

I earned $5.00 in +UP Rewards for this transaction! This now leaves me with $11.00 in +UP Rewards for next week!

Rite Aid Value Videos

It's a rainy day here in East Tennessee. It's been a great morning to play with the kids inside, catch up on some housework and finally finish watching my Rite Aid Value Videos for June.

Do you know about Rite Aid Value Videos? If not, you're missing out on a gold mine of coupons! Each month, Rite Aid puts out coupons (only good at Rite Aid) for watching short videos about certain products. These coupons can be combined with manufacturer's coupons to make for some great deals at Rite Aid! All you have to do is sign up and start watching the videos, then print the coupons you want. You don't have to print the coupons right away. For example, the videos for the June Value Videos must be watched by June 25th, but the coupons can be printed and/or used until the end of July.

Most of the videos are very short (30 seconds or less). There are a few that are longer, but not many. I watch all the videos every month, regardless of whether or not I think I will need the coupon. It takes very little time (I did it this morning while playing in the floor with my kids), and you never know when a product you may not need will turn into a money maker. At the end of each video, you must put in a "captcha" to verify that you are actually a human and have viewed the videos. I actually turn the volume on my computer to "mute" while I am doing it and just put in the captcha at the end.

My Rite Aid Shopping Trip 6-20-11

When I was at Rite Aid yesterday, I wanted to purchase 2 of the St. Joseph's Aspirins that were on sale for $1.50 with $1.50 UP+ Rewards; however, they only had one in stock. I had to go to another town this morning, so I stopped by the Rite Aid there in hopes they would have them, and they did! Here's what I bought:

1 St. Joseph's Aspirin (reg. price $2.29, on sale for $1.50 - buy 1, get $1.50 UP+ Rewards)

Total before sale prices applied - $2.29

Total after sale prices - $1.50

I used the $1.50 UP+ Reward from my St. Joseph's Aspirin purchase yesterday.

Total after sales and coupons - $0.00 + tax

I earned $1.50 UP+ Rewards for this transaction. I still have $11.48 UP+ Rewards to use next week!

NOTE: I have said before I only buy things I know my family will use or we can donate. My motto is "It's not about how much you save, but how much you spend". This is one of the items I will put back to donate. Several members of my church take a mission trip to Haiti each year, and this will go to the stash of things to send with them. I encourage you to find an organization or mission project to donate to as well!

I went to Rite Aid this afternoon after my daughter's morning nap. They have some pretty good sales going on, so I got a few things we can use. My Rite Aid Shopping Trip 6-11-11

I finally made it to Rite Aid yesterday after a very crazy week! I didn't have high hopes that they would have what I wanted in stock, and I was right. I walked out of the store with a rain check for the Oral-B CrossAction Power toothbrushes (four of them). Unlike CVS, Rite Aid will not give the UP+ rewards on a rain check - instead, they just write the rain check for the sale price minus the amount of the UP+ reward. In this case, the toothbrushes were on sale for $5.99 with a $2.99 UP+ reward (limit 4). So the rain check is to purchase the toothbrushes for $3.00, which is fine because I have four $3.00 off coupons to use from last weeks P&G coupon insert!

Rite Aid Coupon Policy Changes

Rite Aid has made a few key changes to their coupon policy. The major changes are:

1. Rite Aid will no longer accept a BOGO* coupon in conjunction with a BOGO sale.
In the past, you could combine a BOGO coupon with a BOGO sale and essentially get both items for free. Not so any more.

*Buy one, get one free

2. Rite Aid will accept up to 4 identical coupons in the same transaction, as long as their is sufficient stock and at the managers discretion.
This one doesn't bother me - I am not an extreme couponer, nor am I a "shelf-clearer". I very rarely use 4 of the same coupons at one time, anyway.

Take note of these changes. It may be helpful to print off a copy of the coupon policy to keep with you in case you have questions. I am afraid TLC's show "Extreme Couponing" is going to make things tougher for those of us who just want to save our family money, and we will be seeing more companies tighten the reigns on coupon use.
