My Walgreens Shopping Trip 5-31-11

My last stop tonight was at Walgreens. I only got 2 items, but it was worth the stop. I started with $1.50 in Register Rewards from a couple of weeks ago. Here's what I got:

1 BC Headache Powder (reg. price $1.99, on sale for $1.50)

1 Ecotrin Aspirin ($3.49)

1 candy caramel ($0.35 - not pictured above because I already ate it!)

Total before sales prices and coupons - $5.83

Total after sales prices - $5.34

Here are the coupons I used:

(1) $2.50 off Ecotrin aspirin (Walgreens in ad coupon)

(1) $1.00 off Ecotrin aspirin (manufacturers coupon)

$1.50 Register Rewards

Total after sales and coupons - $.34 + tax

I received $1.50 in Register Rewards as well.

I stopped by Wal-Mart this evening to pick up a few free/cheap things. Here's what I got:

I had a great trip to Rite Aid this evening! I spent more than I normally do, but considering the items I purchased, I didn't do too bad. I did two separate transactions, and started with $5.00 is UP+ Rewards. Here's the breakdown:

3 Jumbo packs Huggies Diapers (reg. price $11.99, on sale for $8.97 each)

1 Jumbo pack Huggies Pull-Ups (reg. price $11.99, on sale for $8.97 each)

Total after sales price applied - $35.88

Rite Aid Coupon Policy Changes

Rite Aid has made a few key changes to their coupon policy. The major changes are:

1. Rite Aid will no longer accept a BOGO* coupon in conjunction with a BOGO sale.

In the past, you could combine a BOGO coupon with a BOGO sale and essentially get both items for free. Not so any more.

*Buy one, get one free

2. Rite Aid will accept up to 4 identical coupons in the same transaction, as long as their is sufficient stock and at the managers discretion.

This one doesn't bother me - I am not an extreme couponer, nor am I a "shelf-clearer". I very rarely use 4 of the same coupons at one time, anyway.

Take note of these changes. It may be helpful to print off a copy of the coupon policy to keep with you in case you have questions. I am afraid TLC's show "Extreme Couponing" is going to make things tougher for those of us who just want to save our family money, and we will be seeing more companies tighten the reigns on coupon use.
